We are all adapting to a new normal as we continue to practice social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic. While we are all looking for ways to keep our distance and stay safe, that can cause extra anxiety. TAM Card® requirements for hospitality workers haven’t changed, so how to adapt?
The obvious answer is – complete your training online!
We are often asked if our online TAM® course meets the same requirements as the classroom course. The answer is YES. Here are some additional benefits of an online alcohol awareness course:
Stay Socially Distance
Taking your TAM® course online is an easy way to limit your exposure to others. You don’t have to worry about sharing classroom space with others for several hours. You can launch the online course, anytime, from anywhere.
Online training is convenient. It is just that simple! You’ll receive the same great training you would in our classroom – without worrying about finding the best instructor or arranging a schedule for commuting to class.
Available Anytime 24/7
Night and weekend shifts shouldn’t stop you from finding a convenient time to take your course. Taking the time to attend a class after a long day at work or on a Saturday morning isn’t always appealing. With online training, you can work through the course 24/7. Go at your own pace, take a break, and save your progress. You can always return later to finish up.
One of the best benefits of online TAM® training is the price. While our traditional classroom course costs $35, you can take your training online for just $24.95. There is NO additional fee when you visit our office to pick up your official TAM Card®. In a time when we are all watching our budgets, this is a great way to save.
Same Great Service
Our friendly staff is still available to assist you with any questions you have about the TAM course. Feel free to e-mail us at [email protected] or give us a call at (702) 545-6664 and let us know how we can help.

Over 200,000 hospitality and service workers are employed in Clark County, most of whom are required, by state law, to receive alcohol awareness training and carry an Alcohol Education Card. Alcohol awareness training is mandatory for those who serve or sell alcoholic beverages or provide security services in casinos, restaurants, bars, clubs, and grocery/convenience stores in Clark and Washoe Counties. Many establishments also require anyone who handles alcoholic beverages and their managers and executive staff to carry cards. Do you already have your alcohol card? Great, but make sure to check the expiration date! TAM® Cards expire after four years, so don’t delay in staying current with your education.
There is a common misconception that one can “renew” their card by paying a fee or taking a short quiz, but law dictates one must re-take an approved alcohol awareness course every four years. Laws, policies and procedures, and even available alcohol products can go through considerable changes in four years, and it is very important for service professionals to be aware of those changes. The benefits of refreshing your education include staying up to date on current laws, refreshing knowledge about how alcohol affects the body and learning about what to watch out for, how to react to certain situations, and more.
There are some important points to consider as you determine how this information affects you:
- Providers of alcohol awareness training, such as TAM® of Nevada, must be approved through Nevada’s Commission on Postsecondary Education. Cards issued by providers and provider locations not on the approved provider list could be deemed invalid.
- Training can be taken online or in the classroom. If you’re interested in completing your training online, you can view our online course demo and sign up for a class here.
- All students must physically go to the provider’s approved school location to take an exam that is proctored and pass the proctored exam with a score of at least 75%. TAM® of Nevada has convenient proctoring hours six days a week for students to drop-in to take their exam and obtain a TAM® Card.
If you are concerned that your current card may be invalid, or if you’d like to register for an alcohol awareness course, you can reach TAM® of Nevada here. Alcohol education cards from out-of-state won’t transfer in Nevada. Industry professionals should complete alcohol awareness training with TAM® of Nevada to meet local requirements.
Are you a new resident in Las Vegas? Welcome to Nevada! Workers are drawn to this great state for its booming entertainment and nightlife industry, and all of the hospitality jobs that come along with the action.
Have you already received job-related alcohol training in another state? We often receive inquiries from out-of-state students asking if their alcohol education cards and education are valid in Nevada. Unfortunately, liquor laws are specific to the states, counties and municipalities, so no, alcohol licenses are not transferable. All individuals hoping to work in the beverage sales and service industry in Nevada must complete an alcohol training program that has been approved by the Nevada Commission on Postsecondary Education. TAM® of Nevada is an approved provider, and the only official provider of TAM® Cards in the state of Nevada.
Individuals that need to obtain their TAM® Card can complete their training online or in a traditional classroom environment with our certified instructors. Additionally, we now offer open lab time on Tuesdays for students who would like to complete their alcohol awareness training online, but do not have access to a computer. Students are welcome to visit our training center and use our computer lab to complete their training on Tuesdays between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Likewise, classroom-based training is available at several convenient times throughout the week, including Spanish classes on Tuesday evenings. Check out our alcohol awareness class schedule to find a class that is convenient for you!
