We’re Back! TAM® of Nevada Classroom Training Begins on June 1st

The wait is over! Beginning Tuesday, June 1st, TAM of Nevada will return to offering in-person alcohol awareness classes. Check out our website for the official class schedule.

Reservations for our classroom courses are strongly encouraged. Please send us a text message or email letting us know your name and what date you will be attending class. You can reach us by e-mail at [email protected] or text us at (702) 514-6008.

Our online alcohol awareness training remains a popular option and will still be available 24/7. However, we know some people prefer to learn in the classroom with our instructors. We’re happy to offer both of these options! We’ve missed all of our classroom students and can’t wait to see you again soon.

TAM Card classroomGood news for TAM Students in Las Vegas. Starting on Saturday, February 17th, we’re offering in-person alcohol awareness card classes every Saturday at 10:00am. Our students requested a convenient start-time on Saturdays, and we’re happy to oblige. Join us for the only instructor-led alcohol awareness class offered on Saturdays in Las Vegas. As always, students can sign up for a class on our website, or register right at the door before class starts.

Saturday mornings aren’t convenient for you? No worries! For your convenience, we’re open six days a week, with classes and final exams to meet your busy schedule. We also offer online training, available 24/7 at the TAM of Nevada website. Stop in to pick up your TAM Card and say hello!

Meet Our Instructors: Sherry Cummings

Sherry_CummingsYou can tell a lot about a company by the people that work there, and here at TAM® of Nevada we have an amazing set of knowledgeable, professional, and fun instructors. Whether you complete your TAM® training online or in the classroom, you can expect to meet some of our staff members. We’d like to introduce you to our staff in a new blog segment: Meet Our Instructors. I had the opportunity to interview each of our instructors, and this is a great bunch.

Let’s kick off this week by getting to know our General Manager and TAM Instructor, Sherry Cummings. Originally from New Jersey, Sherry has lived and traveled extensively throughout the USA, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Hotel marketing in Mexico led her to owning multiple restaurants in Puerto Vallarta. Sherry’s later tenure as Food & Beverage Manager at Pegasus, a Mobile Four Star dining room inspired her to explore and hone her service skills, food knowledge and wine expertise.

The Court of Master Sommeliers certified Sherry and she continues to attend sommelier seminars and training programs. Sherry attended the Sterling School of Hospitality and was also certified by London’s Wine & Spirit Trust.

Later, Sherry worked at the Rio Hotel & Casino, Gatsby’s at the MGM and Southern Wine and Spirits in a variety of roles alongside wine directors, sommeliers and chefs up and down the strip! Now, Sherry brings her unique experience to the classroom and is in a fantastic position to teach responsible beverage service based on real-world examples.

If you’d like to attend a TAM Class taught by Sherry, register for a class on our website. The schedule varies by week, but you can normally find Sherry teaching students on Mondays and Wednesdays at 2:00pm.

Did You Know? TAM® of Nevada Now Offers Alcohol Awareness Training in Spanish

As you may know, all hardworking hospitality industry professionals in Las Vegas, and much of Nevada, are required to obtain alcohol awareness training and procure an alcohol awareness card prior to the start of work in a setting that deals with the sale and service of alcoholic beverages. Las Vegas is a growing and diverse town, and there are a multitude of Spanish-speaking and bilingual service professionals working in area casinos and clubs who are required to obtain this training.

In response to a growing demand, TAM® of Nevada is now offering alcohol awareness training to Spanish speakers at our Training Center in Las Vegas. If you want to take your training in Spanish, you can join us on Tuesday nights at 6:00pm for a course taught by instructor Roberto Valencia-Vega. Training will follow the same format of our English-language course, and you’ll be able to obtain your TAM® Card on-site immediately after passing your exam. For more information, or to enroll in one of our training sessions, please visit TAM® of Nevada’s website or call us at (702) 545-6664.
