Training Announcement from LVMPD: “Stay S.A.F.E – Sexual Assault Intervention Training”

Boulder Station Hotel & Casino in partnership with LVMPD’s Southeast Area Command is hosting a 2-hour training course to combat sexual assault in the Las Vegas Valley. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in collaboration with representatives from the Rape Crisis Center of Las Vegas will be on-site to inform attendees on the significance of these types ofcrimes. Additionally, strategies will be discussed to identify:

  • Common behaviors of sexual predators
  • Potential victims who may be vulnerable
  • lntervention methods and techniques
  • Available resources in the Las Vegas Valley

This course is an essential tool for Management, Security Personnel, Bartenders, Servers, and others working in the hospitality industry.

TAM of Nevada Releases New Mobile-Friendly Online Alcohol Awareness Course

TAM_Course_2018It’s here! TAM of Nevada has launched a new and improved version of the online alcohol awareness training course. The new TAM Card course offers students easier navigation and improved overall experience with a sleek HTML5 design. Whether using a computer, tablet, or smart phone, it will be easier for students to take their training anywhere, at any time.

We reviewed feedback from our students and designed the updated course to meet their needs. In addition to a more mobile-friendly course, students will find a fresh new look and feel. Updated course videos and animations will keep things fresh and interesting. Animated videos are larger and clearer. Navigation buttons and interactive games are easier to use on a tablet or mobile device. And, we kept all of the great features and content from the original. The course is still self-paced. Busy students can continue to log in and out, to finish the course at their own pace.

TAM of Nevada students handle over 17 million sales transactions every year. The training they receive on safe beverage service, I.D. checking, and alcohol management help them to make sure those sales transactions are safe and legal.

Working at a salon or barber shop? Soon you may need a TAM Card.

hair_salon_beer_wineSelling salon customers a glass of wine or a beer might be permitted soon in Clark County. The County is considering a plan that would allow salons and barber shops to apply for an ‘ancillary drink permit’ that would allow for the sale of two servings at a time of beer or wine.

Many visitors to Nevada are looking for this service, which they are more familiar with in their hometowns. At least seven states have approved alcohol service at salons, barbershops and spas, according to the National Conference of State Legislators (Las Vegas Sun). Many business owners see the value in creating a full-service relaxing experience for their salon guests. They see the chance to add another source of revenue to their businesses, and to offer something fun and unique to their customers.

If the measure passes, what would that mean for employees who sell or serve alcohol in these salons and barbershops? In Clark County, anyone who works in a position where they serve alcoholic beverages to customers is required to take an alcohol awareness course and obtain a TAM® Card. County Commissioners will next meet on March 6th to continue discussing the proposal. If approved, you can be sure that we will be happy to provide alcohol awareness training for all of your employees.
