Holidays, sporting events, or just a long weekend, Las Vegas is a city that knows how to throw a party. Bars and restaurants all across town are preparing for successful Cinco de Mayo promotions, and in some cases, celebrating the entire weekend. Is your establishment prepared to make the most of the increase in bar traffic? It’s not too late to plan for and execute a very successful event sure to increase sales and customer buzz. Here are some tips on how to run a successful bar promo, both this coming month, and in the future.
Cinco de Mayo (May 5th) is a traditionally observed in the United States as a day of celebration of Mexican culture, but is a popular party night for not only Mexican restaurants, but all types of bars and clubs. In more recent years, much like holidays such as St. Patrick’s Day and Valentine’s Day, marketers and business owners have upped the ante on the celebratory nature of the day and begun to promote it more heavily. Need some inspiration on what type of promotion or event may be successful at your establishment? Check out Nightclub and Bar’s article, “Promos We Love: Can’t-Miss Cinco de Mayo Events,” for their picks on some great promos from around the country.
Special events such as Cinco de Mayo are a great opportunity to try special menu items, live music, or themed promotions. Why not offer a Mexican beer sampler or specially-priced happy-hour cocktail menu to entice your guests? Your bartenders could create a signature cocktail or Latin-themed menu items to get your guests in the celebratory mood and trying something new.
Once you have an outline for what type of promotion or event you’d like to run, spread the word! We here at TAM® of Nevada recommend using social media as a way to reach both your existing customer base as well as new customers. Social media is an easy and effective way to get the word out about your events. Check out our blog post, “Boost Your Bar Sales and Increase Your Guest Count with Social Media Presence and Deals,” for ideas on how to maximize your exposure with social media tools such as Twitter and Facebook. Be cautious when using social media. There are no specific regulations regarding social media but remember that social media is advertising and available to everyone, including law enforcement. Do not put anything on social media that you cannot put in a print ad. Do not post activities that occur in your establishment on social medial that can be a violation of the statutes or the rules.
Make sure your customers are safe. Make sure that you are not over serving your guests when you are featuring special drinks and that the atmosphere can remain light and fun for all of your patrons. TAM® of Nevada will train you and your co-workers to provide a great celebration that will keep your patrons safe and willing to come back and party at your next holiday event.
